What points to take care while migrating QTP 9.5 Scripts to QTP 10.0

Hi All,

We are working on Windows based application, we develop all scripts in QTP 9.5 now we need to convert the existing scripts to QTP 10.0
regarding this I have the following quries:

1.What are the points to take care while migrating the scripts from QTP 9.5 to QTP 10.0
2.What are the changes/modifications to be done after migrations.
3.How much effective is migration(People who already migrated the scripts from QTP 9.5 to QTP 10.0)

Hi Saran,

QTP scripts can be upgraded but not degraded. So once you migrate the scripts form QTP 9.5 to v10, you cannot degrade them to any version below 10.

I have an application that tested fine using 9.5. With 10 the application and QTP both freeze during a test. I think it has something to do with the way QTP 10 identifies objects. I would suggest that you use a test box and copy all scripts locally to convert and try them before doing a full upgrade. I now have to use specific test boxes with 9.5 loaded as well as a 10 environment to handle my regression testing. Hopefully HP will find an answer other than try QTP 11.
