What is absoulte,relative and pathfinder.locate

I have a file in the following location C:\QTP\Test.txt

Now when i invoke the application in QTP, i want to just give Test.txt and QTP shoudl be able to specify the full path

Also can you folks please explain what is absoulte, relative and pathfinder.locate with examples as i am not clear
