Testing Tab Sequence in QTP

I am trying to test a tab'bing sequence on a web application, QTP currently does not recognize my tab key strokes. Can anyone advise if there is any settings that i need to work with, to make QTP recognize my tab key strokes. ( PS: I am using QTP 10.0)

Secondly, i also need a sugesstion on the best way to test this form, a fix is deployed by the developers to fix the sequencial order of the tabbing sequence on the form; i was thinking, after recording the tabbing sequence, I will put checkpoints for each of the obect on the form and test the 'focus' property on it .. If you think, there is a better way of doing this, please advise
