QTP not generating code on web app

I'm brand new to QTP and was trying to follow along to a training demo on youtube. I'm doing exactly what the instructer is doing, yet my QTP is not generating any code. When I press record, it opens Ebay, but when I type in my search and click the search button QTP displays nothing. But if I move IE or minimize it then it generates code for that, but nothing for the actual website I'm trying to test. Any help?
