Total newbie, going through the tutorial.

Using QTP 10.0 with both WinXP/IE6 and Vista/IE8 - both setups have the following problem:

I launch Object Spy and as I mouse over the Mercury Tours website I am able to spy on objects in the browser frame (WinToolbar and various WinObjects) but the whole inner part of the browser window with the Mercury Tours content is spied as a single big WinObject. I can't spy on the Username edit box, for example.

When I try to "Learn" the Mercury Tours site I get the following in the Object Repository Manager:

- Test Objects
---- Windows Internet Explorer
------- ABC Edit
- Checkpoint and Output Objects

Note that Spying and Learning appear to work fine with Firefox, but not with IE. (!)

What am I doing wrong?

make sure you have enabled Web-addin.

Web add-in was enabled (I was able to spy objects in Firefox).

I restarted the computer and now IE seems to be working correctly. Strange!

Not strange if you have opened your app first and then QuickTest
