Measuring Transactions : What is Wasted Time?

On using Start Transaction and end transaction method, The result details are as below:
Transaction "Navigate" ended with "Pass" status (Total Duration: 35.5465 sec Wasted Time: 0.4275 sec).

Query:
1. What is Wasted Time?
2. Is Total Duration the time between Start and End?

Could someone elaborate more on this topic of Measuring Transactions.

Wasted time is a time spend on tasks that normal browser or application wouldn’t perform like storing test results and entering the input and etc...

Total Duration of the time between Start and End = Total Duration - Wasted Time.
