Micro Focus announced the launch of their latest patch UFT 14.03 in the first week of March, 2018. The new patch comes with several enhancements and support for latest browsers and technologies.

Here is a list of all new features and enhancements available in UFT 14.03.

UFT 14.03

Object Spy Enhancements

Micro Focus has well … focused a lot on object spy lately. In UFT 14.01, they made object spy non-modal. Now in UFT 14.03, they have introduced a new compare tool in Object Spy dialog box itself. Using the compare tool, you can spy two objects and compare their properties side-by-side. Here is a quick illustration.

Web Testing Enhancements

Headless Chrome Support: UFT 14.03 supports testing on headless chrome for Chrome v60 and above.

Headless environment simply means that you run a program without the visible user interface. Headless terminology is not specific to Chrome and is used across a variety of environments.
With headless Chrome you can run your automated tests from the command line without viewing the actual Chrome window.

You can run a headless UFT test on Chrome by going to Record and Run Settings and selecting Google Headless Chrome under Browser option.

Trivia: While headless mode was available on Mac and Linux in Chrome v59, Windows support came a bit late on Chrome v60 and onwards.

Active Screen Support in Chrome and Firefox

Till now active screen support was limited to Internet Explorer, with the latest version of UFT, active screen support has been extended to Chrome and Firefox as well. By default, the support is disabled, you can enable Active screen support for Chrome and Firefox by going to Tools > Options > GUI testing > Active Screen > Custom Level and unchecking Disable Active Screen capture for Chrome/FF. Here is a quick illustration.

Mobile Testing Enhancements

  • Run tests in parallel: UFT 14.03 enables you to run multiple mobile tests in parallel* using Mobile Center’s device lab, using the new ParallelRunner command line tool. A UFT license supports running four tests in parallel. ParallelRunner is available under <UFT installation folder>/bin directory.
  • Manage multi projects: UFT 14.03 now supports multi-project capabilities available in Mobile Center v2.60 and above. Mobile Center’s multi-project feature lets you create and manage multiple projects on a single Mobile Center server. Each project is isolated whereby a project’s apps and devices are only visible within that project.
