We have to checkout the test before editing in ALM. Follow the below steps:
1) Navigate to your test in ALM
2) Right click on the test
3) Checkout the test case (Versions>Checkout)
4) Go back to QTP and open the test now

Make sure that you have checked in the test case, once you are done with Editing.
