Altering hosts files

Windows

Typically prior to putting in a new App into our PRODUCTION environment, we of course, will put it into a TEST environment.

Sometimes, even with TEST it's necessary to create a 'PV environment' and alter the hosts settings on the computer.

How do I change those so that QTP will recognize them OR is it automatic?

havent got the gist of it, but astrologically i can say that use filesystemobject in vbscript to modify the host file and save it, which is automatic.

Does this light the fire ?

I was able to compare a new 'pending page', so altering the original hosts files on the computer did work afterall. Thanks.
