<<<>>> after importing from Excel??? - sgt slaughter - 07-09-2012

We use paramaters in our scripts that have been written in Excel and through the excel add on after importing them to HPQC the Parameters values that were listed as <<<Clients>>> or anything with <<<XXX>>> result in being uploaded in HPQC as just <<<>>> with no value inside...

Is there a way around this at all? just wondering what is causing the inside parameter value to get removed...

thanks in advance

When you write your scripts in an excel spreadsheet and then use the excel add-on to import the script to HPQC.
In a lot of the steps we have values in parameters(ie. <<<ReferenceNumber>>> ) in the step description and/or step expected result. These parameters are referenced on a separate sheet we call the datasheet which is attached to the script when uploaded for the tester to reference back to.
When you use the import using the add-in feature it causes the parameter values from the steps to change from <<<ReferenceNumber>>> to being displayed as <<<>>> in the actual steps.

I'd like to keep the actual wording inside the brackets when we upload these to HPQC.

Ur query is still not clear....

RE: <<<>>> after importing from Excel??? - sgt slaughter - 07-26-2012

whats not clear about it????

Does no one know of the Microsoft Excel HPQC Add-In?....

We write our test scripts in Excel, and then use the Add-In to import the scripts into HPQC. When this happens it takes 'values' inside the Step Description and Result fields that are 'Parameters'(ie. <<<ReferenceNumber>>> ) and removes the value inside the <<<>>> brackets when its imported into HPQC. I would like to import but still have the value inside the <<<>>> present.

nvm i got it figured out...totally forgot QC shortens them up in 'Test Plan' and then shows the values when moved over to 'Test Lab'
