I wondered why QTP doesn't just automatically install patches like every other program....maybe it's because they break things....
My Web testing script was running ok, but I needed a patch for standalone testing (00850)
I installed QTPWEB_00078 (the one that is supposed to FIX IE9!) and the cumulative patch 906, and some others.
Now, QTP does not recognize objects in my browser (recorder ignores them and my script that used to work cant find them now..) and IE crashes all the time while QTP is up. ("IE has stopped working...")
I have QTP 11, IE 9, on 32bit Win7.
I re-installed patch 00078, because it is supposed to FIX that type of problem...but it's still broken.
Any ideas?
Thanks
More info:
ActiveX is OFF
WPF is OFF
I uninstalled 00073, that didn't help.
I can't even see my list of patches in QTP, because it tries to bring up the browser....and QTP crashes my browser!
Gotta say, I'm liking HP less all the time. Patches are not supposed to break things!
and the answer is.....
QTPWEB_00107.....I uninstalled that, and it's happy again. (as happy as QTP ever gets anyway)
Not happy with HP...patches are not supposed to break things! If it is known to be incompatible with something (such as newer patches) then it should not install! GGRRR!!!!
