environmental variables

Hi, iam new to QTP, what is environmental variables? and how can we use them, and up to what extent it will be used in real time at work..

as i was a beginner, i dont know about some concepts, although i read some content regarding this i am unable to understand, and i recently faced this question regarding environmental variables..

Go to QTP user guide documentation and read about "Environment variables"
In my words, env variables are like global variables whose values can be read/write in any action of the working test.
Go to file>settings>environment to see the built in and user defined env variables
