I have read in QTP automation scripts (even in other tools) that we can write customized functions, for example validating date formats.
My questions is, since the main application it self should have those validations within the application. So whats the purpose of writing those functions separately when doing automation testing with a tool.
Please give me an example where we can use this type of functions in automation
